Safety Gloves and Types of Coated Gloves
Safety gloves are an essential part of personal protective equipment (PPE), designed to protect workers’ hands from hazards such as cuts, chemicals, abrasion, punctures, and contamination. Among the wide variety of gloves, coated gloves are widely used in industries because they combine a comfortable fabric liner with a protective coating that enhances grip, durability, and resistance to specific risks. The most common coatings are Nitrile, Latex, and Polyurethane (PU).
1. Nitrile-Coated GlovesUsage: Widely used in automotive, construction, oil & gas, and handling sharp objects.
Performance: Excellent resistance to oils, fuels, and many chemicals. They provide strong grip in dry and oily conditions, high puncture resistance, and good durability.
Usage: Popular in general handling, construction, warehousing, and gardening.
Performance: Offers high elasticity, comfort, and strong grip in both wet and dry environments. However, they have limited resistance to oils and solvents, and some users may experience latex allergies.
Usage: Ideal for electronics, precision assembly, packaging, and light manufacturing.
Performance: Provides a thin, flexible coating for excellent tactile sensitivity and grip. PU coatings are breathable, lightweight, and great for tasks requiring precision, but they are less resistant to heavy abrasion and chemicals compared to nitrile.
